The quiet courage of a first hello

Joining a new group can feel like walking into a room where everyone already knows one another. Often, the person beside you feels exactly the same.

Start small. Mention a book you enjoyed, a place you would like to visit, or something you are learning. A specific question gives someone an easy way into a conversation.

You do not need to become the most outgoing person in the room. Good friendships often begin with a second conversation, then a third. Give familiarity time to grow.

In your first circle, try a simple introduction: “I am here because I would love more ___ in my life.” Let the rest follow at your pace.
